Mozarthaus Vienna
a centre dedicated to the life and works of Mozart
in the historical context of his only surviving apartment in Vienna

The building at Domgasse 5 contains the only surviving apartment occupied by the composer. Mozart lived there in grand style from 1784 to 1787. Mozarthaus Vienna now presents the life and works of Mozart on four fl oors, concentrating in particular on the more than ten years spent by the composer in Vienna, during which time he wrote many of the works that have ensured him a unique place in the history of music. In addition to the apartment, which has been adapted by Wien Museum, visitors can enjoy an extensive presentation of the time in which Mozart lived and some of his most important works.

The exhibition focuses on Mozart’s years in Vienna, which marked the high point in his creativity, lifestyle and musical oeuvre. The permanent exhibition with historical views and documents and audiovisual installations is supplemented by selected original objects and autographs on temporary display. In the event area in the basement, chamber music concerts and special events are also organised.
