Constanze is faithful, melancholy and highly sensitive. She is less ambivalent than Mozart’s other female figures.

Her arias and ensembles are demanding, particularly the aria Arie Martern aller Arten. But her character is less musically diverse, for example, than the great female arias in Idomeneo.

Blonde

Blonde is Constanze’s maid. She is simple, playful and somewhat superficial, but she has a good heart.

Blonde’s role as soubrette has demanding coloraturas. She is the buffo character in the Singspiel along with Pedrillo and Osmin. There is nothing lumbering or mournful about her.
